Riding Lessons
Group Riding Lessons
We run weekly group riding lessons during each school term, providing a fun and supportive environment where riders can develop their riding skills, confidence and independence alongside others.
Each lesson is approximately 60 minutes. After the riding lesson, riders are expected to untack, groom their pony and put their pony away. Putting a pony away is not expected of our littlies.
Before commencing lessons, please make sure your permission and health form has been completed.
- School horse: $45 per lesson for a 10-week term, payable weekly
- Own horse: $45 per lesson for a 10-week term, payable weekly.
- Full-term bonus: Complete a full 10-week term with all payments up to date and receive your 11th lesson free.
Private Riding Lessons
Our private lessons offer one-on-one instruction, allowing each rider to learn at their own pace and focus on the skills that will help them progress. Lessons are available on our quiet, experienced school horses or on your own horse.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your lesson to allow time to groom and tack up your horse. After your lesson, please allow another 15 minutes to untack and care for your horse.
If you are not able to tack up your horse yourself, please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled lesson time so we can assist you.
Lessons on Your Own Horse
If you are bringing your own horse, please have your horse ready and be warmed up and ready to ride at the start of your lesson time. Riders are expected to be able to tack up and prepare their own horse, or have a parent available to assist.

Casual Lessons or Weekly Term Bookings
Casual lessons can be booked online at any time, subject to availability. These are a great option if you are looking for a one-off lesson or can't commit to a regular weekly time.
For riders wanting a regular lesson, we can reserve a weekly lesson time for the full school term.
If you know you will be away for a lesson, you can cancel with at least 48 hours' notice and receive a credit to book a make-up lesson at another available time.

Riding in All Weather
Our group lessons go ahead regardless of the weather. If conditions are too wet or windy to ride safely, the lesson becomes an unmounted horse-management session instead.
These sessions are a valuable part of learning to ride and may include grooming, horse care, tack and equipment, stable management and other practical skills. Our aim is to develop well-rounded riders who take pride in caring for their horse and equipment and understand the responsibility that comes with owning and riding horses.
Joining a Group Lesson
We want to make sure every rider is placed in a group that is appropriate for their age, experience and ability.
Riders who are new to Pine Hollow, including those who have ridden elsewhere, will be put into the most suitable group for their riding level. They will be initially assessed in a group setting then moved if needed.
For complete beginners, we have a number of fun and supportive groups, and we try to keep riders in similar age groups where possible. We also have groups for novice, intermediate and advanced riders.
Our adult groups are specifically designed for adults, with groups available to suit different levels of experience and ability.
Pony Rides for Ages 2 Years and Up
Our short lead-rein pony rides are a lovely way to introduce young children to the joys of ponies in a safe, relaxed and fun environment, with sessions kept short to suit their age and attention span.
Children will enjoy a gentle ride on the lead rein, sometimes around the arena and, when conditions allow, sometimes out around the farm. After their pony ride they can help brush and care for their pony.
While some basic riding instruction is included, the main focus is on having fun, building confidence and developing a positive connection with their pony.
Pony rides can be individual or for a group of friends to ride together. When a group of friends are riding at the same time, we encourage parents or another adult to help lead the ponies. We will provide guidance on how to do this safely.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your booking so we can fit your child with a riding helmet.
Pony Ride Options
- 15minute pony ride: $25 per child
- Group pony ride: Price and duration depend on the number of children booking together. Please contact us to discuss your group.
